Letter to the Editor
Issue date: 2/9/10 Section: Opinion
I commend the senators for finally spending money in a manner that could benefit the students. Aside from providing the funding for free hockey buses to home games at the Qwest Center, Student Government has failed to add value to the students' experience in college or to the University's campus. The last big expense of Student Government was in October when senators took a weekend trip to Kansas City on a tour bus for a staggering $6,000. The entire trip was paid for with student fees, including a lunch at Panera, a dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen and several meals at the hotel.
As students we should not stand for our fees being spent in such a way, and that is why I encourage everyone to contact their respective senators and ask for an explanation.
All senators can be reached through their UNO e-mails, or by phone at (402) 554-2620. If you do not know who your senators are, either stop by the Student Government office on the first floor of the Milo Bail Student Center or visit the Web site at sguno.unomaha.edu.

This debate was a strong one I will admit. One side was afraid to spend the money and this was their standpoint. The arguement of the the student body as a whole being against this proposal was unfounded and unsupported. (Continued…)
