While at a club in Kansas City, my first out of town club experience, I walked into the women's bathroom and a lady tapped my shoulder. I turned around and she handed me a paper towel. I looked at her with surprise, raised my eyebrows and said, "Is there a problem?" She laughed and said, "Paper towel, to wipe your hands."

After realizing that this was the lady's job, I started to laugh. I felt like I was officially a true hillbilly.

That was my first "bathroom attendant experience."

Let's be honest, you probably will never find a bathroom attendant out at a bar on 114th and Dodge handing out paper towels in the bathroom. I take that back. You actually may find a girl handing out paper towels after she has a little too much to drink and spills her Bud Light all over your new outfit.

I am not bashing Omaha in any way. In fact, I love Omaha. I enjoy going out with friends and I usually do have a good time when out around 114th and Dodge.

The only thing that bothered me is the quality of clubs and bars for a college crowd in Omaha. When I was in Kansas City I was very surprised to see clubs and bars that were nice and accommodating for a younger crowd.

You can only go to a bar so many times until you start to get bored with the bar scene in Omaha.

With Omaha being a growing city, it seems like everyone is asking, "When will Omaha nightlife improve?"

On Saturday Oct. 10, a standard is finally being set for downtown Omaha night life with the opening of Silhouettes Lounge, Omaha's newest upscale restaurant and nightclub. The owners of Silhouettes Lounge, James Mills, Courtney Kellogg, Jermaine Ballard, and Andre Rash realized the lack of quality of clubs in Omaha. They are setting standards with service that includes valet parking, bathroom attendants, special guest celebrities and a mature party atmosphere that is affordable.

James Mills, co-owner of Silhouettes Lounge, has promoted parties for over 10 years in Omaha. He has never been one to disappoint, bringing celebrities to Omaha, such as Dwyane Wade, Melyssa Ford, Mike Jones and Nelly to Omaha for celebrity guest appearances. Mills has future plans to bring more surprise celebrity guests to his new upscale venue.

"We want to bring a 'big city feel' to Omaha that has never been done before," he said. "The opening of the new baseball stadium will be huge for night life in downtown Omaha. A part of that 'big city feel' is an upscale dress code; you have to wear 'dress shoes' or you're not getting in."

Every Thursday night, Silhouettes Lounge will be hosting "College Night." Anyone with a college ID will receive perks all night.

"There are a lot of bars here, but every bar I go to feels the same," UNO student Stephanie Broderick said. "I think it will be nice to have something different in Omaha."

Hopefully, with this new standard for night life in Omaha, it will be the beginning of a change for better club atmospheres.

Silhouettes Lounge is located at 16th and Farnam. Doors open at 11 a.m. on Oct. 10th. Kids eat free all day and there will be two for one drinks until 8 p.m. To RSVP tables, contact 402-208-6444.

Congratulations on the opening and the concept! Omaha really needs to step up its game and realize that we can cater to a crowd that deserves being cateres to! Congrats!
