As UNO's homecoming and centennial celebrations draw to a close, the campus will shine at its brightest with memorable events.

Today UNO will hold campus and walking tours starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. The tours will consist of people being shown how the campus has transformed since it has opened.

Campus buildings will be open to everyone. Walking maps will be available in the Thompson Alumni Center for those who want to trek the tour on their own.

The College of Public Affairs and Community Service Building will have its open house from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students and others are encouraged to see the new building and explore its depth. Music and food will be at the event.

Also, "Trumpets and Crumpets" will be held at the Criss Library from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit "A Century on Wheels" displays UNO's growth from 1908 to the present.

Saturday, the College of Information Science and Technology will have a breakfast and open house from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Students and alumni can check out the home of bioinformatics labs, wireless computing, information assurance and much more.

The tailgate party for the centennial homecoming game against Missouri Western will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end with kickoff at 1 p.m.

There will be bounce houses, Maverick tattoos, balloons, the UNO marching band and more. Food will be served as well. At halftime homecoming royalty will be crowned.

Later that evening, Steve Martin's "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" will be shown at the Weber Fine Arts Building starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the UNO art student alumni exhibition will be held at the Weber Fine Arts Building from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" will be performed again at 3 p.m.

Homecoming week may be near its end, but it will not be without climax and thrill for alumni, faculty, family and students.

"I think that homecoming is going to be an incredible atmosphere," Chancellor John Christensen said last week.

"All of the events scheduled before homecoming in the Pep Bowl and the things that are going on across campus - tours and each of the colleges having activities - are going to be great fun. And of course the football game should be a large crowd, a lot of alums coming back to campus; I hope we have a lot of students participating. It should just be a great time."
