The Maverick office consisted of two goals each by senior forward MaryClaire Murnan and freshman forward/midfielder Becca Swanson. Senior forward Amanda Iwansky, junior forward Mykala Hanson and junior defender Megan Jensen rounded out the goal scoring with one each.
Preserving the shutout was sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Fox, who was replaced by junior transfer goalkeepers Elizabeth Odorisio and Caitlin Golden as well as redshirt freshman Kate LaTerza in the second half.
Hanson and senior midfielder Casey Bigsby, who scored 10 goals last season, lead the Maverick squad. UNO also returned 10 other players, and has the most newcomers in the program's nine year history.
Thirteen true freshmen along with Odorisio and Golden joined the Mavericks this season. UNO hopes the youth won't provide a blot on the school's record, which has consisted of advancing to at least the quarterfinals of NCAA Division II women's soccer tournament in the last six years, including winning the 2005 national championship title.
Head Coach Don Klosterman has directed the team through its 157-33-7 history - a nearly 80 percent winning record in total since the team was established in 1999.
The Mavericks open their regular season against Rockhurst on Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. at the UNO soccer field located on the former Chili Greens golf course on the Center Street campus.
