Cindy Sheehan to be on campus
Antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan will be on campus on Sunday, April 15, to deliver a keynote address as part of the annual Omaha Peace and Justice Expo.
The expo will run from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will include booths from more than 50 local organizations, businesses and agencies as well as several workshops. Sheehan's address is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be followed by a book signing.
Admission is a $5 suggested donation. For more information, including volunteer opportunities, visit peaceexpo.org.

LGBT Ally training on March 29
Two training sessions will be held by the UNO Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Allies Discussion Group on Thursday, March 29.
The training will address issues such as bias and techniques of being an ally. It will be held in the W.H. and Dorothy Thompson Alumni Center Centennial Hall.
Training sessions will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants need only attend one session and plan to arrive 15 minutes early.

Library Web site offers tax forms
As the deadline for taxes draws near, the Criss Library is offering commonly used federal and state tax forms on its Web site, library.unomaha.edu/special/taxes/2006. It contains Adobe PDF copies of many forms as well as links to other sources for less commonly used forms.

Diabetes camp needs counselors
Camp Floyd Rogers is a youth campus for kids ages 8 to 18 with diabetes. It is located outside Gretna near Schramm Park and runs from June 22 to July 2, with the first three days reserved for counselor training.
The camp is currently seeking counselors for the summer. Counselors are paid and offered a great opportunity to work with kids.

Tour de Cure seeks participants
The American Diabetes Association is hosting the Tour de Cure at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Neb. The event will take place in June and raises money for diabetes research, education and advocacy. Tour de Cure features a 20- or 50-mile bicycle ride.
Each rider must raise $150. They will receive breakfast from Gandolfo's Deli and lunch from Carabba's at the event. There will also be prizes and snacks along the route.

SPO sponsors drug legalization event
"Heads vs. Feds" will feature a debate between Steve Hager and Bob Stutman, both figures in the fight over drug legalization. The event will take place on Friday, March 30, at noon in the Nebraska Room of the Milo Bail Student Center.
Hager is the editor in chief of High Times magazine and founder of the Cannabis Cup. Stutman is a retired Drug Enforcement Administration special agent and credited with bringing "crack" to national attention.

Writer's Workshop chair to speak on novel research
Anna Monardo, chair of the UNO Writer's Workshop department, will be discussing research for her book Falling in Love with Natassia on Thursday, March 29, at 7 p.m. in the W.H. and Dorothy Thompson Alumni Center.
Monardo's work, including poems, essays and short stories, has appeared in Prairie Schooner, The Sun, Indiana Review, Other Voices and several other outlets.
