Two Mavericks placed second to lead UNO in the 27th annual Kaufman-Brand Open, considered one of the largest wrestling tournaments in the country. Over 450 wrestlers from 12 different states and 33 schools competed on the mats in Sapp Fieldhouse on Nov. 21.

The UNO women's volleyball team fell in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Central Region tournament to end their 2009 season. The Mavs (20-14 overall, 10-10 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) fell to conference rival Washburn 3-1.

Nelson's 27 points leads Mavs over Chadron State

Senior forward Ashley Nelson scored a career-high 27 points and freshman guard Jamie Nash hit a clutch 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining to lead the UNO women's basketball team to a 70-62 victory over Chadron State in the final game of the UNO Thanksgiving Classic.
