Hagel to remain involved in international affairs
Former U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel, a UNO alumnus, recently announced his plans following his retirement after serving two terms in the Senate. Hagel, 62, announced earlier this month that he would join the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University as a distinguished professor in the practice of national government.

Centennial celebration continues this weekend with gala fundraiser
Starting out as Omaha University in 1908, UNO and the City of Omaha have changed considerably over the past 100 years. Many of those changes were experienced together and highlight the close relationship between the two. Beginning in October with Chancellor John Christensen's address, the centennial celebration continues this Saturday at the Qwest Center with the Centennial Gala.

University presidents under fire for high salaries

PHILADELPHA (UWIRE) - President Obama announced earlier this month that the federal government would cap annual salaries at $500,000 for top administrators at companies that receive large amounts of federal stimulus money. The new policy, however, will not affect the annual salaries of college presidents - including that of University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann - whose universities are among the possible recipients of federal funds.
