Attorneys for convicted murderer Christopher Edwards addressed Nebraska Supreme Court justices Nov. 4, presenting arguments for a new trial in murder of UNO student Jessica O'Grady.
Edwards, then 19, was convicted June 15, 2007, of second-degree murder. O'Grady was also 19.

Kaaseem Adalla Juanda was a 60-year-old post-operative transsexual woman who lived in Kansas City, Kansas. On Oct. 17, 2005, Juanda's body was found outside a rest stop on Interstate 29 near Glenwood, Iowa. She had been shot in the head.
The Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil reported a month later, according to the Associated Press, that police could not conclude whether it was a suicide or a murder.

12:45 a.m. While on patrol, Campus Security witnessed a student engaged in suspicious activity at University Village. Further investigation disclosed the student was intoxicated. The student was referred for disciplinary action.

Enrollment numbers for the university's emergency alert system have surpassed their old high from February, according to new numbers provided to The Gateway.
The current enrollment in the e2Campus alert system is 2,985 users, up from 2,702 users in late September and 2,891 users late February.

A fight broke out at a suite at University Village Friday after visitors got upset with a resident over a video game, said Paul Kosel, assistant manager of Campus Security.
The Campus Crime Log states at 9:42 p.m. on Nov. 7, Campus Security responded to a fight at University Village.

The UNO chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America won a national award for community service last month.
The F.H. Teahan National Award for Community Service was given to UNO PRSSA Oct. 27 for performing outstanding community service throughout the year.
