A jury of four men and eight women filed out of a Douglas County courtroom Wednesday to decide the fate of Kyle Bormann, the Omaha man standing trial for the murder of UNO student Brittany Williams.
Williams, 21, was shot on Jan. 20 while sitting in the drive-through lane of a KFC/Long John Silver's restaurant at 7601 N.

Tom Short has spent 29 years preaching Christianity on college campuses, and this week he visited UNO twice.
Short, 52, was on campus Monday and Wednesday. He was invited to UNO to speak by The Rock, a student organization for nondenominational Christian students affiliated with Candlewood Community Church.

Around 40 volunteers for the Obama campaign met at Mojo's Coffee House last Saturday to discuss women's issues.
The meeting was organized by the Barack Obama/Joe Biden campaign team in Omaha to discuss women's issues and plan for canvassing for Sunday.
Erin Fitzgerald, communication director for Obama-Biden in Omaha, said women were meeting all over the nation this weekend to discuss why they support Obama's candidacy.

Custodian Stanley J. Siderwicz cleans soap in the fountain located in the Maverick Plaza south of the Milo Bail Student Center. Siderwicz said a suspect had been arrested in connection with the soap. Assistant Manager of Campus Security Paul Kosel confirmed that an arrest was made and provided an Omaha police report number.

5 p.m. Campus Security responded to Criss Library regarding a suspect trespassing. Further investigation disclosed the suspect had received a ban and bar notice on Aug. 13, 2007. Omaha police responded. The suspect was arrested for trespassing.

In an effort to make the campus greener, a new recycling program has been launched.
Now next to most trash cans, small blue bins can be found where students can discard recyclables. Both the Dodge Street and Pacific Street campuses will be able to use the blue bins to sort recyclables starting this semester.
