The Maverick volleyball team will look to continue their four-game win streak as they travel north to Minnesota this weekend. The American Volleyball Coaches Association's No. 14 ranked Division II Mavericks will open their conference season this weekend with a couple of barnburners.

Mavs finish 6th in golf tourney

Senior standout Lynn Mulligan once again finished in the top 10 of a golf tournament, firing a 78-79 this week to nab her a seventh place finish in the Drury Regional Shootout in Springfield, Missouri. Following close behind was another one of the four seniors on this UNO squad, Lindsay Newton, who shot 80-82 to finish 21st.

Maverick football team looks to settle score in home-opener against Northwest Missouri State
The Maverick football season opened up with a tone setting 42-24 victory over cross-state rival Nebraska-Kearney on the road last Saturday night. On Sept. 8 the Mavs will bring their victory home for a showdown with the Division II American Football Coaches Association's second-ranked team in the nation, Northwest Missouri State.

The Maverick football team and the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State clashed in a highly ranked Division II rivalry game Saturday night. Early in the contest, the Mavericks caught a glimpse of déjà vu. Squandering several scoring opportunities in the first half, much like last year's contest, the Mavs trailed 21-6 at the break.

It was 5:30 p.m., a half an hour before Saturday's heavyweight bout between the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats and our UNO Mavericks, and I had just snagged a parking spot in front of the student center. What!? I found an open parking spot, on our campus, in front of the student center, a half hour before a football game? There was something special about this night, there had to be.
