As a child, I remember eagerly running downstairs every Saturday morning to watch cartoons on my television. I remember being greeted by the "Recess" gang, "Doug" and "Pepper Ann." Kristine Flaherty, a psychology major with a degree from Stanford, is making quite a name for herself in the hip-hop industry.
Better known as k.flay, the San Francisco resident taught herself how to program and mix music, rapping on study breaks. She has opened for artists including Snoop Dogg and Ludacris.

Bruce Johansen has had a busy summer.
With 33 published books to his credit, the UNO communications doctorate professor wrote a preface for E.T. Eberhart's latest book, "Will Rogers: Discovering the Soul of America," which focuses on the influence of Will Rogers' Cherokee heritage and values in the United States.

Issue: Over the summer Mike Catagui, a tenured professor at SDSU was fired from his position amid controversy.
Over the summer Mike Catagui, a tenured professor at SDSU was fired from his position as extension entomologist. Both Catangui's side and the university have said that one reason for his firing was because his recommendations for spraying for soybean aphids differed from the State's recommendation.
