On Aug. 12 the University of Nebraska at Omaha flag was lowered to half-staff in honor of Sharon Hudson, who passed away Aug. 9 after a long battle with cancer. Sharon was a staff assistant in the sociology department and had been with UNO for over 23 years.

Angela Eikenberry, a School of Public Administration assistant professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha was recently asked by the New York Times to write a column on education titled "Teach for America Privatizes Public Education." The article stresses the private funding of nonprofit organizations, such as Teach for America, through the outcomes of performance evaluation, such as math and reading test scores.
