As a child, I remember eagerly running downstairs every Saturday morning to watch cartoons on my television. I remember being greeted by the "Recess" gang, "Doug" and "Pepper Ann." I even remember laughing my head off at the coyote's silly antics that led to his demise as he tried to catch that roadrunner.

Kristine Flaherty, a psychology major with a degree from Stanford, is making quite a name for herself in the hip-hop industry.
Better known as k.flay, the San Francisco resident taught herself how to program and mix music, rapping on study breaks. She has opened for artists including Snoop Dogg and Ludacris.

On Aug. 12 the University of Nebraska at Omaha flag was lowered to half-staff in honor of Sharon Hudson, who passed away Aug. 9 after a long battle with cancer. Sharon was a staff assistant in the sociology department and had been with UNO for over 23 years.

Angela Eikenberry, a School of Public Administration assistant professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha was recently asked by the New York Times to write a column on education titled "Teach for America Privatizes Public Education." The article stresses the private funding of nonprofit organizations, such as Teach for America, through the outcomes of performance evaluation, such as math and reading test scores.
